Darkes "Dot" Guffey

SHELBY- Mrs. Darkes “Dot” Guffey, 73, of 306-1 Chesterfield Drive, died Tuesday, April 28, 2009 at Hospice at Wendover. A native of Cherokee County, SC, she was a daughter of the late Edward and Carrie Benton Wisher. Mrs. Guffey was of the Baptist faith.

PRECEDED: In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Harold Guffey; and two brothers Lee Martin and Crawley Wisher.

SURVIVORS: She is survived by three daughters Robin Heffner and husband Geoffrey of Shelby, Rita Oakes and husband Dean of Blacksburg, and Wanda Lemmons and husband Michael of Shelby; two sons Jimmy Guffey and wife Tina of Boiling Springs and Terry Guffey and wife Kathy of Shelby; one sister Marie Porter of Earl; and one brother Ken Wisher and wife Janie of SC.; eleven grandchildren Danyell Jones , Aaron Heffner, Jared Heffner, Tim Beam, Melanie Anthony, Chris Beam, Brandon Deaton, Carley Lemmons, Heather Harding, Haley Lemmons, and Ian Oaks. Mrs. Guffey is also survived by nine step grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and special friends and neighbors George Short and Jackie and Nancy White.

VISITATION: The family will receive friends from 6-7:30, Friday, May 1, 2009 at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home.

SERVICE: A memorial service will be held 7:30pm, Friday, May 1, 2009 in the Clay Barnette Funeral Home Chapel

CLERGY: Rev. Jackie Price will be officiating.
