Danny Spurling

SHELBY: Danny Spurling, 71, died Sunday, October 15, 2023 at Atrium Health Cleveland. A Cleveland County native, he the son of the late Jesse and Mary Spurling. Danny was a graduate of Shelby High School, a US Army Veteran, and he worked for CA Short and later Cleveland Lumber. His passions were carp fishing and being part of a bowling league. He is survived by his daughter, Katie Horn and husband Jonathan; sister Wanda McSwain and husband Gary; grandchildren, Kailand, Hadley, and Mason Horn; nephews, Chad McSwain of Toluca and Brian McSwain of Casar; and cousin & caregiver, Sandy Charles of Kings Mountain. Memorial services will be held at 4:00PM, Saturday, October 21, 2023 at Oak Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Shawn Anderson officiating. Aquamation services are provided by Clay-Barnette Funeral Home and Aquamation Center in Shelby, NC.
