SHELBY: Daniel William Chapple, born on November 17, 1954, in Oswegoe Co., New York, passed away peacefully on May 5, 2025, in Cleveland County at the age of 70.
Daniel was a man with a zest for life and a sharp sense of humor. He delighted in bringing laughter to those around him, often leaving friends and family in stitches with his quick wit and playful jokes. His love for music, especially the sounds of the 1970s, resonated throughout his life, providing a constant soundtrack to both joyous and reflective moments. A devoted sports enthusiast, he particularly enjoyed following football, cheering passionately for his favorite teams. He also had a deep admiration for classic westerns and found inspiration in the iconic presence of John Wayne.
He is preceded in death by his father, Richard Chapple, and a beloved step-great-grandchild, Vanessa.
Daniel is survived by his loving wife, Susan Malson Chapple, who shared many cherished years by his side. He leaves behind his devoted step-sons, Gene Fend (Susan) of Santa Rosa, California, and Christopher Fend (Christina) of Tracy, California; his caring step-daughters, Sandra Gonzaga of New York, New York, and Elizabeth Buse (Kelly) of Shingletown, California. He is remembered fondly by his sister, Diane Bongers (Gary) of Cape Coral, Florida, and his brother, Douglas Chapple (Lori) of Shelby, North Carolina.
His legacy extends to his nine step-grandchildren: Gideon, Jeru, Caleb, Dominic, Jeremy, Amanda, Emily, Liliana, and Alicia; as well as ten step-great-grandchildren: Jewell, Lucas, Isabella, John, Grayson, Ensley, Jenner, Tesla, Everly, and Cooper.
Daniel will be dearly missed by all who knew him, but his memory will continue to bring smiles and warm hearts, just as he did throughout his life.
