SHELBY: It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Chuck Ray Cogdell, who departed this life on June 11, 2025, at the age of 50. Born on September 7, 1974, Chuck was a cherished husband, father, son, brother, and friend, whose vibrant spirit touched all who knew him.
For eleven wonderful years, Chuck was a devoted husband to Ashley Cogdell, sharing a total of seventeen years together in love and companionship. He was the beloved father to four beautiful children: Drayden, Christopher, Nikki, and Serenity, whom he adored dearly. His commitment to his family was unwavering, and his love for them knew no bounds.
Chuck was an outgoing individual, known for his infectious humor and ability to bring laughter to any situation. A jokester at heart, he had an undeniable knack for making those around him smile. His adventurous and fun-loving nature extended to his affection for nudism, always embracing life with openness and joy.
An avid wrestling enthusiast, Chuck's passion for sports was evident not only through his love of the game but also his dedication to coaching football after playing the sport himself. He took great pride in working on cars, a skill he honed with care and precision. Chuck's father fondly referred to him as his "buckaroo," a testament to their close bond.
He was preceded in death by his dear mother, Annette Beaver, and a sweet baby who now rests peacefully. Chuck leaves behind a loving family, including his wife, Ashley Cogdell; his treasured children, Drayden, Christopher, Nikki, and Serenity; his father, Cletus Cogdell, and stepmother, Tracy Cogdell; and his stepfather, Craig Beaver. Chuck is also survived by his three sisters, Ashley Heafner, Tonya Bridges, and Loranda Bivens, his brother, Kenneth Cogdell, and his nephew, Eddie.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, June 21, 2025, at 12:00 PM at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home in Shelby. A memorial service will follow at 1:00 PM to celebrate Chuck's life and the indelible mark he left on the hearts of those who knew him.
May Chuck Ray Cogdell be remembered for his love, laughter, and the warmth he brought into our lives. He will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
