Christine Morris

SHELBY – Mrs. Christine “Granny,” Harvell Morris, 73, of Shelby, died Sunday, October 26, 2008 at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill, SC. A native of Cabarrus County, she was a daughter to the late William Shakespeare and Leah Weaver Harvell. Mrs. Morris was a devoted wife, daughter, and grandmother. She had retired from the Customer Service dept.of First national Bank. She was an avid reader and a member of Bethel Baptist Church. She also loved to travel with Christian Tours.

PRECEDED IN DEATH: In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Hugh, Wesley, George, and Jim Harvell; and two sisters, Isabel Thomas and Auta Harvell.

SURVIVORS: Mrs. Morris is survived by her husband of 53 years and 37 days, Melvin Morris of the home; a son, Michael K. Morris; two daughters Linda Tallent and her husband Doc, and "Charlie" Greene and her husband Ron, all of Shelby; two sisters Laura Burris of Lugoff, SC and Joyce Tucker of Locust, NC; two grandchildren Dr. Holly Tallent and James E. “Doc” Tallent, and many nieces and nephews.

VISITATION: Visitation will be held Tuesday, October 28th at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home from 6-7:30pm.

FUNERAL: A funeral service will be held Wednesday, October 29th, 2:00pm at Bethel Baptist Church.

BURIAL: Burial will immediately follow in Sunset Cemetery.

CLERGY: Dr. J.M. Ezell and Dr. Tim Sims will be officiating.
