FORT WORTH, TX- James Christopher "Chris" Heaton, born on May 24, 1963, in Charlotte, North Carolina, passed away peacefully at the age of 63 on September 17, 2026, in Fort Worth, Texas. Chris was a remarkable individual whose life was defined by dedication, love, and an unyielding spirit that inspired everyone he met.
Chris spent over three decades building a distinguished career in Plant Management and Manufacturing Operations within the Steel Structure Industry. His leadership and expertise took him to various locations across South Carolina, Alabama, Indiana, and Texas, where he left a lasting impact on all who worked alongside him.
A lifelong learner, Chris held an Associate Degree of Applied Science in Industrial Management from Cleveland Community College and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Gardner-Webb University. His education laid the foundation for his successful career and guided him through life's challenges with grace and intelligence.
Beyond his professional achievements, Chris had a deep passion for fishing and sports, especially his beloved New York Yankees. He found immense joy and peace casting a line into the water or cheering on his team with the zeal that only true fans possess. He was also a regular attendee at Lighthouse Fellowship in Fort Worth, Texas, where his faith served as a beacon of hope and strength.
Chris is preceded in death by his cherished mother, Cozette Jackson Heaton. He is survived and deeply missed by his father, James Sanford Heaton of Shelby, North Carolina; his brother, Greg Heaton, and sister-in-law Beth of Charlotte, North Carolina; and his nephews, Ben and Reid Heaton of Charlotte, North Carolina. Chris's legacy of love, kindness, and determination continues to inspire all who knew him.
A service to honor Chris's life will be held on Sunday, October 11, 2026, at 3:00 pm at Westview Baptist Church in Shelby, North Carolina. Family and friends are invited to join in celebrating the life of a remarkable man whose influence will be felt for generations to come.
