SHELBY- Charles “Mac” Simmons, 69, of 3006 Charles Road, passed away Thursday May 17, 2012 at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem. A native of Wilson County, NC, he was born December 24, 1942, son of the late Frank Leslie and Margaret Craft Simmons. He was a pastor for the Salvation Army, an Elder at Shelby First Church of the Nazarene and he was a retired Air Force Chaplin after serving 27 years for his God and his country. He was a man who loved his family, his church and most of all, his Lord; he was a man of God.
PRECEDED: In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one brother, Dan Simmons; and one grandson, Jonathan Simmons.
SURVIVED: He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Frances Cuddy Simmons of the home; one son, Charles “Bo” Simmons, II and wife Jo-Ann of Columbus, GA; three daughters, Ellen Sams and husband Jeffrey of Sebeka, MN; Penney Ramsey and husband Allen and Canille Alexander and husband Toby both of Shelby; 3 brothers, Donald, Greg, and Jerry Simmons; thirteen grandchildren, Dale, Tory, Lawrence, Kayla, Megan, Allen-Mikel, Hayden, Kailey, Kira, Blake, Emily, Nathan, and adopted granddaughter, Brittany Evans.
SERVICES: A funeral service will be held 2:00 pm Monday at Shelby First Church of the Nazarene on Charles Road.
VISITATION: The family will receive friends 5-7:00 pm Sunday at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home of Shelby.

BURIAL: Burial will immediately follow in Sunset Cemetery
