SHELBY: Carolyn Ann Mode, a cherished member of her community and beloved matriarch, passed away peacefully on May 5, 2025, at the age of 80, in her hometown of Cleveland County. Born on November 15, 1944, Carolyn lived a life full of love, kindness, and devotion.
A woman of extraordinary warmth and generosity, Carolyn was known for her unwavering support to all who knew her. Her home was a sanctuary, a revolving door that welcomed family and friends alike. She embodied the essence of a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, always ready with a comforting word or a delicious meal of her signature southern home-style cooking.
Carolyn had a remarkable ability to bring people together, acting as the glue that held her family close. She raised a village with her nurturing spirit and selfless nature, always putting others before herself. Her deep love for horses, creativity, and passion for sewing were well-known, and she was the keeper of everyone’s memories, preserving the stories and traditions that defined her family.
She was a dedicated member of Bethel Baptist Church, where her faith and commitment to her community were evident to all who knew her.
Carolyn is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jack Mode; her parents, Julius and Velma Cook; and her grandson, Julius Mullinax.
She leaves behind a loving family to cherish her memory: two sons, Greg Ramsey and his wife Brenda, and Tracey Mode; four daughters, Jennifer Wall and her husband Adam, Dakota Mode and significant other Aaron, Amy Lee, and Tina Hull. She is also survived by her sister, Norma Pittman, and brother, Donald Cooke.
Her legacy lives on through her grandchildren, Paris (Michael), Brooke, AmyGrace, Josh, Houston (Maci), Bryson, Nathan, and Nicole (Marty), as well as several great-grandchildren: Nolan, Rylan, Carter, Alaia, Grayli, Riley, Easton, Stella, Hayes, Taylor, Marissa, Emma, Madison, Troy, and Gracie. Each of them carries a piece of her love and generosity in their hearts.
Carolyn Ann Mode was a beacon of light and love, and her presence will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
