SHELBY- Mr. Buck Charles “Charlie” Brooks, 71, of 1604 Barbee Road, died Wednesday, December 24, 2008 at Cleveland Regional Medical Center. A native of Cleveland County, he was a son of the late Curtis and Mildred Wellmon Brooks. Mr. Brooks served in the U.S. Navy and retired from Hoechst Celanese. He attended John Knox Presbyterian Church.
PRECEDED IN DEATH: In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Patsy Brooks and a brother, David Brooks.
SURVIVORS: He is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Florence McCaskill Brooks, of the home; two sons, John Charles Brooks and Daniel Stuart Brooks, both of Shelby; a brother D. L. Brooks and wife, Diane, of Gastonia; and seven nieces and nephews.
VISITATION: The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the church.
MEMORIAL SERVICE: A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 30, 2008 at John Knox Presbyterian Church.
