SHELBY- The checkered flag waved one last time for Bruce Neal Camp, age 64, on July 11, 2026. Born on February 26, 1962, Bruce lived life in the fast lane with his quick wit, infectious laughter, and an unyielding passion for dirt track racing.

Bruce was a long-time employee at Bernhardt, worked as an agent with Farm Bureau for 16 years, and most recently left his mark at Wrayz Wrapz.

Race tracks were Bruce’s second home, and he held the title of Race Director at numerous tracks, including Cherokee Speedway, Travelers Rest, and most recently, East Lincoln Speedway. If there was a race happening nearby, you could bet Bruce was either helping organize it or front row with a hamburger in hand. From Fast Track to Carolina Clash and beyond, if it had dirt and wheels, Bruce was there with the biggest grin.

When he wasn’t at the track, Bruce could be found enjoying his other passions: bass fishing and spending priceless moments with his friends, family, and adored grandkids. His humor was as deep as the lakes he fished, and his heart was bigger than any race track.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Sue A. Camp and Everette G. Camp; the mother of his child, Lynn Camp; and his brother, Steve Camp. Bruce is survived by his daughter, Christy Camp Daves, and her husband, Dillon; his grandchildren, Haiden and Hunter Vassey and Ryleigh Daves; his brother, Keith Camp; his nieces, Allyson Camp and Ashley Camp; and his nephew, Chuck Camp.

A gathering of friends will be held from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday, July 23, 2026, at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home. Friends and family are invited to share their favorite stories and memories of Bruce's vibrant life, ensuring his legacy of laughter and love continues to race on. The family encourages you to wear your favorite racing or fishing shirt in honor of Bruce.

Bruce, you may have crossed the finish line, but your spirit will forever make laps in our hearts.
