SHELBY - Brenda Davis Lavender (84) a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and devoted servant of God, passed away peacefully on January 4, 2026. Born on November 5, 1941, in Shelby, North Carolina, Brenda spent her life surrounded by the love and warmth of her family she cherished so dearly.
As a pastor's wife, Brenda dedicated her life to serving her Lord and Savior with unyielding faith and grace. She also faithfully served as a church secretary, giving her time and talents in support of the ministry. Serving as church secretary, teaching Sunday School and spreading the gospel touched the lives of many, offering inspiration and guidance to all who knew her.
Brenda was preceded in death by her loving parents, James "Jim" Davis and Jessie Dobbins Davis; her dear husband, Rev. Dean Lavender; her cherished daughter, Kim Lavender Ford; and her angel babies, Michelle and Angela Lavender.
She leaves behind a legacy of love and faith in her surviving family: her son-in-law, Kevin Ford; grandchildren, Haley Owens and husband Derek, and Josh Ford and wife Krista; sister, Lydia Bingham and husband Don; and her treasured great-grandchildren, Cohen Ford and Emma Ford.
A celebration of Brenda's life will take place on Friday, January 9, 2026, at 1:00 PM in the Chapel of Clay-Barnette in Shelby, led by Pastor Mark Patchett. Family and friends are invited to gather an hour prior to the service to share memories and offer condolences. Following the service, Brenda will be laid to rest at Sunset Cemetery.
