SHELBY- Mr. Boyce Norman Burton, 75, of 117 Stone St., Shelby, died Monday, July 24, 2006 at Hospice at Wendover.
FUNERAL: 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 27, 2006 graveside service will be held at Sunset Cemetery
BURIAL: Sunset Cemetery
VISITATION: The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, July, 26, 2006 at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home and other times at the home.
PERSONAL HISTORY: Born in Anderson County, SC, he was a son of the late William Sloan and Nettie Herrin Burton. He was retired from the Esther Mill. He was a founding member of Immanuel Baptist Church, where he was also a trustee and Treasurer, former Deacon, Sunday School Teacher and sang in the choir.
PRECEDED IN DEATH BY: In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his great niece, Kim Berly Jenkins, a sister, Ruth Erwin and a brother, Walter Burton.
SURVIVORS: Mr. Burton is survived by his wife, Ethel Burgess Burton of the home; a daughter, Karen Burton of Shelby; sister, Virginia King of Anderson, SC; brother, Levis Burton of Anderson; special niece, Cindy Jenkins and husband, Bob; great nephews Matthew and Robert Jenkins of Rock Hill, SC; and special friends Mike and Vicky Huntsinger of Shelby. The family would like to especially thank all of those who attended to Boyce’s care: Margaret Putnam, Devon Porter, Gheri Burris, Kim Callahan, Angie Campbell, Heather Davis, Gail Gober, Mary Howard, Mark Lovelace, Sherry Moore, Kay Newton, Brenda Page, Teresa Pittman, Dana Putnam, Bettina Sentell, Tammy Stroud, Chris Vaughn, Tammy Wood, Sherry York and Dr. David Barker.
