SHELBY- Bonnie Ellen Walker, born November 28, 1939, peacefully passed away on October 28, 2026, at the age of 86, surrounded by her loving family.
Bonnie was a woman of fierce spirit and boundless love. Known for her hard-headed and stubborn nature, she was truly a pistol—full of life, laughter, and an indomitable will. She cherished her time spent with friends, the nurses, and all the staff at the nursing home, especially in the “smoking section,” where everyone affectionately called her “Ma.” Her servant heart and genuine desire to help others touched countless lives, as she shared her warmth, kindness, and delicious cooking with those around her.
Beloved by her family, Bonnie found joy in being together with those she loved most. She is preceded in death by her parents, Franklin Boyd Martin and Mattie Delle Peterson, and her siblings David, Wilma, Thelma, and Noah Lee. She leaves behind a cherished legacy in her sons William Peace and wife Judy, Joe Peace and wife Iris, Chester Peace, Amos Peace and wife Collean; her brother Trudy Martin; and her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Rhonda Harrill, Benjamin Peace, Thomas Peace, Kristen Peace, Josh Peace, Michael Peace and wife Stephanie, Donald Peace and wife Nicole, Daniel Peace, Charles Peace, James Caleb Smith, Michael Wesley Smith, as well as Jason, Jordan, Emma, Connor, Natalie, Noah, and Luke Peace.
Bonnie’s family will celebrate her remarkable life on Monday, November 2nd, 2026, at 12:00 PM at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home. A burial will follow at Cleveland Memorial Park.
Though she may be gone, Bonnie’s fiery spirit, her love for family, and her generous heart will forever inspire all who had the honor of knowing her. She was truly a one-of-a-kind soul who made the world brighter simply by being in it.
