Bobby Lee Martin

DENVER- Mr. Bobby Lee Martin, 65, of 2606 Ranger Island Rd., Denver, died Sunday, March 11, 2007 at his daughter’s home. A native of Cleveland County, he was a son of the late J.V. Martin, Jr. and Eunice Queen Martin. He was Captain of the Patrol Division of the Shelby Police Dept from 1963 to 1978, worked as a company Police Officer with Duke Energy from 1979 to 2004 and worked part time for the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Dept. Auxiliary. Mr. Martin was a charter member of the Shelby Fraternal Order of Police, Lodge #18 and had a love for motorcycles, as he was a member of Star Touring and Riding.He was also an avid softball player and took great pride in Bobbie and Barbi's achievements in softball as well.

PRECEDED IN DEATH BY: In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Vernon Martin, his father-in-law, Miller T. Jones and his mother-in-law, Catherine R. Jones.

SURVIVORS: He is survived by his beloved wife, soul mate and partner, Nancy Jones Martin of the home; a son, Terry Lee Tillman and wife, Lori, of Hartsville, SC; three daughters, Tiffiany Martin Borders of Shelby, Bobbie Leigh Martin of Denver, and Barbi Martin Dellinger and Nick, Bobby’s beloved son-in-law, of Lincolnton; a sister, Judy Wray and Frank, Bobby’s cherished brother-in-law, of Shelby; a brother, Billy Key Martin of Vale, CO; two grandchildren, Matthew Dixon Borders of Shelby and Easton Ray “Little Man” Dellinger of Lincolnton; brothers-in-law, Robert Gary Jones and wife, Kathi, of Cramerton and Richard G. Jones of Fallston; and six special friends, Zip Philbeck of Fallston, Roy Camby of Union Mills, Lee Fowler, and Terry Little, both of Taylorsville, Tony Dellinger of Lincolnton and Jackie Spencer of Denver.

VISITATION: The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 14, 2007 from 12:30 until 2:00 p.m., at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home.

MEMORIAL SERVICE: 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 14, 2007 at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home Chapel.
