Bob Allen

SHELBY-Bobby Charles “BC” Allen Sr., 82, of Surratt Dr., died Tues., Nov. 11, 2014, at Cleveland Pines Nursing Center. A native of Cabarrus County, NC, he was the son of the late JR “Kakie” and Mabel Munday Allen. BC served in the Army from 1951-53, and later moved to Shelby in 1965. He owned and operated his own CPA practice for many years. He taught Sunday school for more than 20 years at First Baptist Church, later joining Bethel Baptist Church. He was former member and president of the ABC Board, former secretary of the Rotary Club, and a member of the Cleveland Country Club, where he was an avid golfer. BC loved to play bridge.

PRECEDED: In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Christopher Allen; and step-son, Gary Valcore.

SURVIVED: He is survived by his loving wife, Janet Roth Allen; son, Bobby Allen Jr. of Shelby; daughters, Debra Pendleton of Wilmington; Amy Cox and husband Andy of Waxhaw; step-daughters, Susan Whisnant and Michelle Fullerton and husband James, all of Apex; sister, Karen Barnhardt and husband Ralph of Colorado’ brothers, Thomas Allen and wife Bonnie of Hillsborough, and Joseph Allen and wife Shirley of Kannapolis; 13 grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren.

SERVICES: Saturday, 11a.m., at Bethel Baptist Church

VISITATION: The family will receive friends Friday, 6-7:30pm, at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home
