Alan Dale Woods

SHELBY-Alan Dale Woods, age 76, of Shelby, NC passed away on Sunday, May 10, 2026, in his home.

Born on February 16, 1950, in Shelby, North Carolina, Alan was the beloved husband of Kathie Woods for 28 years. A man of steady faith, Alan loved the Lord and sought to live each day with kindness, humility, and gratitude. He will be remembered for his warm smile, his servant’s heart, and the way he made others feel welcome and seen.

Alan attended Gardner-Webb College, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree. Over the years, he worked at Jack’s Cookies in Greenville, South Carolina, and later at Machine Builders and Design in Shelby. He was known for his strong work ethic and the quiet pride he took in providing for his family. Those who worked alongside him will remember his dependability, his good humor, and the care he showed in every task.

Alan’s faith was the foundation of his life, and his desire was to glorify God and lead others to Him. He was a devoted member of Victory Baptist Church since 1991, where he served as a Sunday School teacher, helped in the Youth Department, served as treasurer, and sang in the choir—finding joy in worship, fellowship, and caring for others. Whether he was woodworking, playing games with his granddaughters, or studying the Word of God, Alan lived out his beliefs in practical, everyday ways. He especially cherished time with his family, and his love and prayers will continue to shape the lives of those he leaves behind.

Alan is survived by his wife, Kathie Woods; his stepdaughter, Maryann Ealy (Glenn); his granddaughters, Autumn Ealy and Terra Ealy; his niece, Angel Poston (Jeremy); his nephews, Gene Woods, Daniel Dain, and Joseph Dain (Magen); his sister-in-law, Debbie Woods; and faithful friends, Butch and Debra Howard, Pat Nichols, Tony and Debbie Honeyman, and Kathy and Ricky Algood.

Alan was preceded in death by his parents, Theodore and Patsy Woods; his brother, Kenneth Woods; his sister, Sandy Hamrick; and his nephew, David Dain.

Visitation will be held on Monday, May 18, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., with the service to follow at 12:00 p.m., at Victory Baptist Church, 3907 Towery Rd, Lattimore, NC. A graveside service will follow.
