A.L. Hardin Jr.

January 13, 1925 — February 26, 2009

GROVER- Mr. A.L. Hardin Jr., 84, of 112 A.L. Hardin Rd., died Thursday, February 26, 2009 at Cleveland Regional Medical Center. A native of Rutherford County, he is the son of the late Alonzo and Maymie Abernathy Hardin. He was a member of Patterson Springs Baptist Church where he served as former Chairman of the Deacons, led the Good News Bible Club and was a former Sunday School Teacher. Mr. Hardin owned and operated Hardin’s United T.V. and also served during WWII in the U.S. Marines.

PRECEDED IN DEATH: In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Ladenia “Dean” Benfield Hardin; a daughter, Mary Alice Hardin; four brothers; and three sisters.

SURVIVORS: He is survived by two sons, Alan Hardin and wife Margie of Grover and Ralph Donald Hardin and wife Nancy of Shelby; a daughter Karen Hardin Borders and husband Mike of Shelby; nine grandchildren Julia Bridges and husband Mike Shelby, Charlene Crepps and husband Chris of Kings Mountain, Dawn Hicks and husband Jonathan, Angie Hardin all of Grover, Matthew Borders, Tiffany Borders, Emily Borders, Alyssa Gardner, and Zachary Borders, all of Shelby; six great grandchildren, Chad Bridges, Mary Alice Crepps, Thomas Hicks, Luke Crepps, Isaiah Hicks, Madelyn Hicks; and a sister-in-law Mae Ball Hardin of Lexington.

VISITATION: The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Friday, February 27, 2009 at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home and other times at the home of Alan Hardin, 110 A.L. Hardin Rd, Grover, NC 28073. The body will be placed in the church thirty minutes prior to the service.

SERVICE: The funeral will be at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 28, 2009 at Patterson Springs Baptist Church.

INTERMENT: Burial will immediately follow in Patterson Springs Baptist Church Cemetery with military honors.

CLERGY: The Revs. Steve Waters, Glenn Walker, Patricia Byers, Russ Bradley and Chaplain Keith Norman will be officiating.
