SHELBY- Mrs. Vernia McCurry Goins, 93, formerly of Carillon Assisted Living, died Thursday, July 1, 2010 at White Oak Manor of Kings Mountain. A native of Rutherford County, she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Monte McCurry. Mrs. Goins was a member of Dover Baptist church and had a love for reading.
PRECEDED: In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Everett Goins, three sisters, and three brothers.
SURVIVED: She is survived by two sons, Jerry Goins and wife Mary Ann of Shelby and Sam Goins and wife Susan of Greenville, SC; 5 grandchildren; and 6 great grandchildren.
VISITATION: The family will receive friends, Sunday, July 4, 2010 one hour before the service at Dover Baptist Church and at the home of her son Jerry.
SERVICES: Services will be held, 3pm, July 4, 2010 at Dover Baptist Church.
BURIAL: Burial will follow at a later date at Cleveland Memorial Park.
MEMORIALS: Memorials may be made to Dover Baptist Church 1501 Polkville Road, Shelby 28150 or Alzheimer’s Association 3800 Shamrock Drive, Charlotte, 28215.
CLERGY: Dr. B. Ervin Price will be officiating.
FUNERAL HOME: Clay-Barnette Funeral Home of Shelby.
