SHELBY- Mrs. Ray Melton Carlton, 85, of 401 North Morgan Street, died Tuesday, October 13, 2009 at White Oak Manor. A native of Cleveland County, she was the daughter of the late Columbus and Celie Crowder Carlton.
PRECEDED: In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Robert W. Carlton, one son Robert T. Carlton, one brother;and six sisters.
SURVIVORS: She is survived by her two sons James Carlton and wife Ellen of Fredericksburg, VA, and R. Wesley Carlton Jr. of Bowie Maryland; a daughter Jean Kearns of Bowie, Maryland; three sisters Ruth Hamrick, Madge Lane, and Betty Yelton, all of Shelby and 7 grandchildren, and 6 Great grandchildren.
VISITATION: The family will receive friends Friday, October 16, 2009 at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home from 6-7:30pm.
FUNERAL: A funeral service will be held, Saturday, October 17, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. in the Clay-Barnette Funeral Home Chapel Chapel.
INTERMENT:. Burial will immediately follow in Cleveland Memorial Park.
